Here it is, the eve of 2015!  I have wanted for so long to start a blog that would reflect the thoughts that keep bouncing around in my head, but I always thought that why do that when no one would be interested in reading it, I mean what a waste of time!  But as you can tell, I have finally decided to just do it!  Maybe not so much for others to read, but for me to reflect.  I have thought many times of the fear of rejection, but looking back now, I realize that I have always taken personal risks and survived pretty well...why stop now!

Let me end this first post with something that inspires me.  As a librarian, it is easy to equate most of my life with books and reading.  The love of reading was instilled in me very early when my mother read books to me and my sisters every night before bed. The sound of her voice was so soothing, and the images so real, that I could drift away somewhere and begin to dream of wonderful places!  But that is not where reading stopped for me.  Every summer my mother made sure that we went to the public library in Ellsinore to get books that we could read.  She didn't limit us on what we could read.  Oh sometimes she would question what we were reading to see what our thoughts were, and how we might feel about a topic, but she never stopped us from reading and cultivating our own ideas.  For that, Mother, I am eternally grateful!  So here is a quote from Dr Seuss, who I believe sums reading up quite nicely..."The More that you Read, the More things You will Know.  The More You learn, the More places You'll go!"
